The wait is over for Bank of America customers who want to deposit checks with a mobile phone. B of A launched a remote check deposit application for the iPad last week. As of yesterday, iPhone and Windows Phone users can also make deposits.
Depositing a check with a mobile device is really quick and easy -- a lot easier than any of the alternatives in my opinion. An application on your device will guide you through the process. Just snap a photo of the front and back of your check, and verify some information. All of this takes less than 2 minutes. While you can also deposit checks quickly at an ATM, it's nice to keep the check in your possession until you know that the deposit appears correctly in your account (you can't do that when you deposit at the ATM).
